BI 335 - Animal Behavior


This course is an introduction to the basic principles underlying the mechanisms and evolutionary causes driving animal behavior. Topics covered include sensory systems, behavioral genetics, communication, neuroethology, mating behavior, parental care, and habitat selection. Techniques for systematically observing and recording animal behavior are learned in laboratory sessions and culminate in a semester-long research project. The writing component of this course focuses on writing composition and mechanics specific to scientific writing.   

Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory each week for one semester. Four credits.

Prerequisite(s): BI 103  - BI 104  or equivalent as determined by Department Chair.
