FAS 260 - Ceramics I This introduction to ceramics is a hands-on, studio-based course and leads to the completion of a group of ceramic artworks. Students will learn the basics of hand building, the potter’s wheel, kiln firing, glazing and surface embellishment. Class time is comprised of instructor demonstrations, group critiques, and individual studio work. Projects will stress the sculptural potential of clay in addition to the aesthetic merits of functional vessel making.
