PBH 301 - Environmental Health This course will introduce students to the population health approach to defining and recommneding evidenced-based interventions in public health. Using an evidence-based, public health methodological approach, course content includes communicable and non-communicable disease; behavioral, social, and environmental determinants of population health; disparities in population health; health communications; healthcare institutions; health policy and ethical challenges. The three core functions of public health are assessment, policy development, and functions and challenges of public health, including public health institutions and systems at the local/state, federal and global levels as well as future issues in public health. This course helps students become informed citizens in public health and advocates of community health in its various forms.
