HI 378 - Modern China: 1600-Present This course explores the history of China since approximately 1600, focusing on the transition from the Sino-centric world in existence when the Qing dynasty took power in 1644 to the challenges of European imperialism, republicanism and communism in the 19th and 20th centuries.
