Earth and Space Science minor

This minor provides a foundation in earth and space science. Students are introduced to the sciences of astronomy and geology through two introductory courses. Then students choose three courses depending on their focus. Some courses can come from the Introductory Physics for the Life Sciences or Calculus-Based Physics course sequence and Modern Physics. Other available courses explore more advanced Earth and space science concepts such as climate, remote sensing, and planetary science. Earth and space science research projects or special topics courses can be included for this minor with department approval.

CS 210 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
PS 211 - Remote Sensing
PS 222 - Life Beyond Earth (if NOT used for astronomy requirement above)
PS 231 - Modern Physics
PS 384 - Introduction to Astrophysics
PS 385 - Introduction to Cosmology
PS 400 - Independent Study (with an earth or space science focus)
PS 449 - Topics in Physics (with an earth or space science focus)
PS 451 - Research in Physics I (with an earth or space science focus)
PS 452 - Research in Physics II (with an earth or space science focus)
Note:

From the three electives, students should strike a balance between courses that focus on astronomy or space sciences and courses that focus on planetary or Earth sciences.
