PO 104 - Comparative Politics Comparative politics is the study of domestic politics, political institutions, and the nature of political regimes around the world. The course is structured around a set of fundamental questions, such as: What are states and what is state power? What characterizes the different forms of democracy and autocracy around the world? How do different electoral systems function? What are political parties and what role do they play? How do countries democratize and why do some countries become democratic while others do not? How does nationalism, ethnicity or ideology affect domestic politics? Required of Politics majors and International Relations majors.
