LGS 400 - Legal Studies Senior Seminar The assignment for this course is to produce an original essay based on research in primary sources. Along the way, students will need to identify a topic in legal studies, acquaint themselves with relevant secondary literature, locate and analyze primary documents related to their theme, and produce a twenty-five to thirty-page paper that sets out their findings. Besides becoming experts on their chosen subject, they will confront basic issues in conducting research: careful evaluation and citation of source material, the development of a specific argument that explains the issue they have chosen, and producing a well-written, logically constructed paper.
Four credits.
