PO 209 - Elements of Political Theory: Modern This course examines the nature, functions, and goals of political society in the modern period (roughly, since 1500) through careful readings from the works of Machiavelli, Locke, Rousseau, and others. Special attention is paid to the concepts of justice and power, the individual and society, and equality and rights. PO 208 or PO209 is required of Politics majors.
