The objective of the Department is to provide the student with an understanding of the problem of crime in America, the impact of crime on victims, and the systems which identify, process, and treat the offender. Criminal Justice encompasses the areas of law enforcement, prosecution, the courts, and corrections, including probation and parole. The major in Criminal Justice consists of ten courses.

Please note accepted transfer students may transfer up to six out of the ten criminal justice required courses for the major and up to three out of the six to count toward the minor. However, students cannot transfer in courses that would replace the following courses:  CJ 385 - Research Methods in Criminal Justice, CJ 390 - Statistical Techniques for Criminal Justice, and CJ 405 - Senior Seminar. All transfer courses are reviewed by the criminal justice department before approval and enrollment in subsequent courses.
