Computer Information Systems


The Computer Science Department offers the B.A. in Computer Information Systems (CIS) program.  prepares students for all potential career positions in the CIS field. The field is concerned with the effective design, delivery, and use of information and communications technologies to solve problems for industry, government, and society.  The field measures and studies the efficacy and impact of implemented solutions toward strategic improvement and ethical use.  The major provides a foundation appropriate for jobs as a Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, System Administrator, Database Administrator, Information Systems Manager, Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and others.  It also provides an appropriate undergraduate curriculum for students that want to pursue a greater specialization in Organizational Behavior, Data Analytics, or Management Information Systems in graduate school.

2 Computer Science electives:


These electives should be numbered between 210 - 399. Students may take CS112 as an elective if they have completed CS230 as a requirement. CS230 and CS330 are highly recommended as electives but not required. 

Please note that computer science academic internships (CS 481 and CS 482) do not count as required computer science electives. CS400 Independent Study and CS450/CS451 Selected Topics in Computer Science will be considered for computer science elective credit on a case-by-case basis.
