The marketing minor allows students across disciplines and majors with complementary skills and interests to gain specific knowledge and experience leading to a more rounded education and increased marketability for employment. Students can select among courses that explore topics such as marketing principles, consumer behavior, marketing research, marketing management and one marketing elective course.
Pursuing a marketing minor offers students an opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of consumers, markets and marketing research, helping them become better business practitioners no matter where their careers take them. Students opting to minor in marketing will learn transferrable skills that complement those gained from their major area of study. Students graduating with the Marketing Minor will be able to work in a wide range of areas including branding, marketing research, public relations, product management, social media marketing, sales, advertising, retailing and promotions. Furthermore, graduates may choose to further their education in marketing.
The Marketing Minor Requirements:
- A full-time degree candidate from any major.
- Registration for the minor preferably completed no later than the 2nd semester of the junior year.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the time of registration.
- Successful completion of five courses (with a cumulative 2.0 GPA in minor courses) taken from the list below.
