Social Work is a helping profession aimed at improving society’s overall well-being, especially for vulnerable populations. Grounded in the liberal arts and rooted in the Benedictine commitment to social justice, service and the innate worth and potential of all human beings, the mission of Saint Anselm College’s Baccalaureate Social Work Program is to prepare undergraduate students to effectively support individuals, families, groups, organizations, communities and the larger global society through compassionate, competent, ethical, anti-oppression generalist social work practice aimed at improving the well-being of all individuals, families, groups, local and global communities, especially vulnerable, oppressed and marginalized populations. The Social Work major prepares students for practice in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, non-profit organizations, mental health centers, schools, advocacy agencies, and government offices.
