Biology Minor

Biology is inherently an interdisciplinary field that requires collaboration and understanding from all disciplines to understand the nature of world. A minor in biology offers students an opportunity to explore various areas of biology as a complement to their major to foster this interdisciplinary learning while tailoring their studies to their personal interests. This minor offers practical knowledge and technical skills that are essential for a multitude of professional and career preparation, consistent with the College’s mission outside of a full degree of Biology. A minor in biology requires two (2) courses, BI103 and BI104, as pre-req’s for students to pick any three (3) additional biology course they desire, to allow flexibility in each minoring students learning interest. 

Degree Requirements for Minor in Biology


Total: 5 courses

General Biology (2 courses)

Biology Electives (3 courses)


Any three BI 200 or 300-level courses.

Students in the following Majors are not eligible for the Biology Minor: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, BA, Biochemistry ACS certified, BS, Biology BA/BS, Natural Science, Environmental Science, Health Science.
