PY 325 - Brain, Aging, and Dementia This course provides a comprehensive overview of normative and non-normative brain-aging processes. The course will introduce students to the life-course approach, theories of aging, and the brain structures, functions, and the tools relevant to the study of brain aging and dementia. Students in this course will also examine change (and stability) in cognition and emotions in late life as well as the state of the science regarding symptoms, pathology, etiology, treatment, and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Four credits.
Prerequisite(s): PY 101 or permission of the instructor
