HI 106 - The U.S. Presidency The power of the U.S. President was intended to be limited, but has generally grown throughout the years since George Washington served as the first president. We explore the limits specified in the Constitution, as well as the ways in which Presidents have used institutional, Congressional, and personal strategies to expand their powers.
