PS 383 - Quantum Mechanics This is a one-semester course for students in the physical sciences, mathematics, and computing that introduces the modern formalism and phenomenology of quantum physics. It begins with a review of linear algebra before introducing the basic postulates of quantum mechanics. These postulates are used to discuss a diverse range of topics including but not limited to the hydrogen atom, Schrödinger’s equation, Bell’s theorem, and quantum computing. PS 121-122 may be used in place of PS 131-132 if the student has also taken or is planning to concurrently take MA 310 .
Four credits.
Prerequisite(s): PS 131-132 (required), PS 231 (recommended), MA 310 (recommended); or permission of instructor.
